★★★★★ “We had Christmas lunch at The Ship & thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We also visited for lunch another day & the scotch eggs were a huge hit! Will definitely be back next time I’m visiting family in Rye. ” – Sarah
★★★★★ “The atmosphere was cosy, relaxing and fun. The staff were smiling, laughing and joking together as well as with the customers. Nothing seemed to much trouble for them and the customers all appeared to be having a good evening as well. Lovely vibes. Looking forward to a return visit already.” – Jules M

Christmas in Rye is something truly special; cobbled streets, crooked timber-framed houses, and twinkling lights that make the whole town feel like a scene from a storybook. Here’s how we’d do it:
Explore The Medieval Town – Wander the cobbled lanes, browse the independent shops for unique Christmas gifts, and soak up the festive atmosphere in one of England’s most picturesque towns.
Rye Harbour Winter Walks – Wrap up warm and take a windswept stroll through the nature reserve, with its big skies, salty air, and flocks of winter birds. It’s the perfect balance to all the indulgence. And don’t forget to snap a picture of the iconic red-roofed hut.
Kent & East Sussex Railway Santa Specials – All aboard the steam train! Meet Father Christmas, tuck into mince pies, and soak up the atmosphere at the station, complete with a traditional carousel, mulled wine and plenty of festive charm.
Bedgebury Christmas Lights – As night falls, wander the glittering light trail through the forest with hot chocolate or mulled wine in hand. Equally as romantic as it is perfect for families, this is pure Christmas magic.
Christmas at Bewl Water – Round it all off waterside with a theatrical magic, and immersive woodland adventure, and all around family-friendly festive fun.
